Cottonwood Plate

This platter showcases beautiful markings of gray and red. These markings are left when a tree converts sugar into a defensive substance. Usually to fight disease or predators. The coloring is often mistaken as a type of spalting. This platter is one of 4 pieces I was able to make from a large fallen branch.
